Block, MD Updated on February 11, 2020 How Stress Impacts Your Health Overview Signs of Burnout Stress and Weight Gain Benefits of Exercise Stress Reduction Tips Self-Care Practices Mindful Living kyoshino / Getty Images There are many reasons a womans period may be late or her cycle may go off schedule. An obvious one is pregnancy. Others include poor nutrition, excessive exercise, and long-term illness. A less obvious reason for amenorrhea or missing a period, however, is ?depression.?? The link between mental health and reproductive health makes sense when you consider that nature does everything it can to create favorable conditions for reproduction. If a woman is chronically stressed, anxious, sad, or upset, shes really not in a physical or emotional position to go through a pregnancy and then take care of and nurture a child. Under these less than ideal conditions, the female reproductive system can shut down. How Depression Affects the Menstrual Cycle The stress hormone cortisol is primarily responsible for changes in a womans cycle when shes depressed. As cortisol levels rise in response to stress, the hypothalamus, an organ in the brain that plays an important part in regulating the reproductive system, stops sending signals to the ovaries to do their job.?? Without this signal, ovulation (the monthly release of an egg from the ovary) is either delayed or stopped altogether. The result is a late period or sometimes no period at all. The medical term for absent periods when theres no pregnancy is amenorrhea, which also can be caused by health issues other than stress including problems with the hypothalamus, the pituitary glands, the ovaries, the uterus, or the vagina. Pinpointing the Cause When You Miss a Period Of course, the first thing you should do if your period is late is to take a pregnancy test, which can be accurate as early as the first day of your missed period. If its negative and you dont get your period in a few days or you completely skip it that cycle, or if youre having chronic problems with menstruation, make an appointment to see your gynecologist. Shell likely do a repeat pregnancy test. If its negative, shell move on to some basic evaluations such as asking you about your medical history, doing a pelvic exam, and taking blood samples to check your hormone levels. Diagnostic Tests Depending on what these preliminary tests reveal, plus other basic factors such as your age, she may move on to more specific diagnostic methods, which may include: Genetic testing to see if you have fragile X syndromeChromosome evaluation to look for chromosomal variations such as Turner syndromeAn ultrasound computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to make sure your reproductive organs are normalAn MRI to check for a pituitary tumorA hysteroscopy to examine the inside of your uterus Is Depression the Problem? Amenorrhea caused by chronic stress and depression is called hypothalamic amenorrhea. If you tend to eat more or less than usual when youre depressed and have gained or lost weight, that also could play a part in your menstrual irregularities. If your doctor has determined that depression is behind your late or missed periods, getting back on track will be a matter of finding an effective way to reduce your stress and treat your depression. Treatment Options There are many different ways to treat irregular or absent periods depending on your overall mental health and menstrual irregularities. This can include a wait and see approach (if its only happened a handful of times), stress management strategies, therapy, and/or prescription medication. Consult with your gynecologist or mental health care professional to determine the type of treatment plan thats best for your physical and mental health. Lifestyle Changes Making an effort to manage stress will reduce your risk of becoming depressed and missing your period. In addition to eating a well rounded diet and practicing good sleep hygiene, try to incorporate stress-lowering activities into your day. While there isnt a one size fits all option when it comes to stress relief, a few ideas to consider include: YogaMeditationDeep breathingLight exercise (such as walking)JournalingSupport groups (online or in-person) 17 Highly Effective Stress Relievers Prescription Medication An antidepressant, such as Prozac (fluoxetine) or Zoloft (sertraline), can be an effective way to relieve symptoms of depressionâ"but its not right for everyone. In addition to possible side effects, some antidepressants can even cause your period to be late or delayed. You may even be prescribed oral contraceptives to create a regular schedule of withdrawal bleeds, however, combination birth control pills have been linked to depression, so make sure to alert your doctor to your mental health history. It may take some trial and error, but it is possible to get back to feeling normal and your body back to functioning normally. Do You Know About All the Treatment Options for Depression?

What is being done to solve this issue? What can still be done to solve this issue? Restaurant Evaluation Free Essays
Burger King Your Name Your School Restaurant Evaluation Walking into a fast food joint, one expects to be met by a sweet aroma of the delicious foods that are quite appealing. Considering they are supposed to serve customers as fast as they can while at the same time maintaining quality service. Upon entering a fast food restaurant, one would expect to have a view of the whole place in a glance, with counters just around the bend for customers to make their purchase. We will write a custom essay sample on Restaurant Evaluation or any similar topic only for you Order Now One would also expect to find people around helping customers make fast purchases as well as clearing tables for people to eat. Without such quality, a fast food restaurant cannot be up to par. Burger King is the fast food restaurant I visited a few days ago, and fortunately did not disappoint my expectations; rather, I was surprised by their smooth, fast service and tasty foods as well as the restaurant itself. Once I entered the restaurant, I was met by the aroma of grilling hamburgers and other foods, which is not usually the norm in other fast food restaurants, where food is mostly micro waved. The interior of the restaurant is well designed, spacious to allow many people to be served at the counter without much congestion. Their prices are well marked on the menu, which is well labeled with pictures that are just as alluring as the aroma. Just as their phrase suggests, ââ¬Å"Have it your way,â⬠one can ask their hamburger to be made the way they want. This makes it ideal for everybody rather than having to standardize everything to suit all, which is not possible. For instance, when ordering a whopper, you can choose what to be included in it to suit your preference. This makes it a strong point for people who want a hamburger served with what they want. On the other hand, it serves as a weakness since having to order it the way you want takes a little more time and this requires patience. The tables are well set with enough space between them and decoration is just good for a fast food restaurant. This gives space for people to have their meal easily in less congestion. However, this has its weakness considering the restaurant is frequented by many customers at one time especially during lunch hour. Many people may want sitting space but due to their spaciously arranged tables, they can only provide a few with sitting space, forcing people to carry their orders, even if they may not want to. Entering at around 2. 00 P. M. , I was already receiving my order the way I wanted it in less than five minutes after direction from one of the workers in the restaurant who offered me help with my order. The restaurant is well set with counters strategically positioned to access from any table in their restaurant with ease. After receiving my order, finding a table was not easy considering it was still a few minutes from 1 oââ¬â¢clock when many people are on lunch break. I ordered a Whiplash Whopper that appealed to me, first from its name. I expected quite nourishment from it. The sandwich came with a whopper meat stacked in it, with spicy crispy fried onions, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, pepper and cheese. The ingredients were well balanced with the meat being standard, fresh lettuce, and the crispy onions added to the experience. The meat itself was well grilled and soft though I prefer it a little crunchy and more burnt. The other spices were on a fair balance and I could have loved a little more pepper in it as well as tomato. The hamburger was quite delicious and every single bite was an experience different from other hamburgers I have taken. Although not everything was according to my taste, most of what I look for in a hamburger was there. Going at $3. 99, it was worth the amount and most definitely, I am sure I will come again to this restaurant to try other foods. Burger King has many competitors such as McDonalds among other fast food restaurants owned by individuals. The location of the Burger King serves as the strategic point of having such a facility considering the many people who want to save as much time as they can. This makes it ideal for people working around there, as it is quite convenient. This is one of its strong points but also its weak point. During the day, since there are many people working around here, it has many customers, but during the night, there are fewer customers. In conclusion, the restaurant is well above the standards and the food served is delicious and to high standards just as the restaurant itself. In the first criteria of the service delivery, the restaurant was average when it came to the sitting area. Everybody knows that fast foods are not required to have spacious, luxurious sitting spaces. Burger King can increase their table to accommodate more people. In terms of the food served, it is quality and delicious. Since it is a fast food, one expects the food to be easy to pack or take away since many people may choose to carry their food. Burger King has achieved this by cooking their food through grilling, which ensures food does not break up when heating unlike microwave food. Finally, its locations serves them well during the day and it is at a hot point. They can only accommodate more during the day to compensate during nighttime. Richard Nixon and David Frost free essay sample
Nixon is a historical drama based on the real-life interviews between British media personality David Frost and disgraced former American President Richard M. Nixon. On 6/18/72 a man who was an employee of Richard Onions reelection committee office was arrested after trying to bug democratic national committee office. This was one of the series of events that lead to the 8-0 vote from congress to have the tapes from the Watergate scandal released. After this, Impeachment Inevitable. After two years of bitter public debate over the Watergate scandals,President Nixon bowed to pressures from the public and leaders of his party to become the first President In American history to resign Slapstick, C. Ford was desperate to move on from the Watergate thing. 2-1 public opinion poll, disapproval of the full free pardon for Nixon. It was said on the movie: Roosevelt had his New Deal. Truman his Fair Deal, now Ford has his crooked deal. Howard, R. (2008). Frost/Nixon [Theater]. David Frost was a British individual. He was a television host and was in Australia hen President Nixon resigned. He hoped to interview Nixon and get the truth. Frost wanted to do a full interview, a look back over his life. Frost recruited John Birth to help him get an interview with Richard Nixon. With the help of Swifts Lazar, Onions team agrees to the Frost interview at a cost of $KICK. David Frost met with Nixon, paid him $KICK and would later do another interview and pay the rest. It was quite a work and effort for Frost to get the interview, but finally he got the interviews March, 1977 In a hotel room at the Beverly Hilton. Interviews for 2 weeks long. During the Interview, Richard Nixon ultimately admits that he may have done things that were Illegal, and let the country down In the process. The events leading up to the Interview were very interesting. For Instance, a group 3 of Investigators got together and tried to figure out what they could talk to Nixon about. They wanted to give Nixon the trial he never had. I found It Interesting that will you shake his hand? was a question amongst David Frosts group of Investigators. A lack of respect for an Individual from people who has title influence in the US compared to an individual who had very much influence in America.Funny to me how something as a handshake was so big then, and has become so minuet now. And that perspiration was a total worry to Nixon as he had trouble with it before struck me as he was comfortable and likely a likeable guy. Why didnt you burn the tapes? first question asked by David Frost to Richard Nixon. I find it interesting that was his first question. The stunning look on David Frost was almost like he had honestly no idea what he was going to say next after such a huge question. All the time prepping for the interview, questions already wrote, gone because he chose the gutsy route. Nixon burned 23 minutes rambling to the first question. This movie was really good. I enjoyed the effort that David Frost had to put forward to get a network to air his interview with Nixon. It was kind of like they were unsure what would come out in the interview. And how it would look for a British newspapers to be reporting on a US president resignation. I thoroughly enjoyed when Frost was in the home of Nixon.

Importance of E
Importance of E Aims, objectives, Research Questions Electric bikes use an electric motor to move it around. They are always fitted with some rechargeable batteries thus they are able to move for longer distances without experiencing any mechanical problems. The company which introduced the bikes currently records higher sales turn out implying that it is liked by many people across the world (Lippman B2012, p. 147).Advertising We will write a custom proposal sample on Importance of E-Bikes as an Alternative Commuting System for Saudi Arabia specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Besides, the traditional bikes and motorcycles are almost fading away since a number of people have considered it to be more convenient cheap and environmental friendly. For instance, it leads to the reduction of carbon dioxide in the air.Electronic bikes have gained popularity over the years (Cohn 2008, p. 144). Consequently, it is being used in most of the developed countries arou nd the world. In a number of countries around the world, electric bicycles are not regarded as motor vehicles since they are operated with minimum traffic rules (Weiss 2002).à Due to rapid population and economic growth, approximately, 80million people have e-bikes. Additionally, the sales of the bikes have been steadily increasing over the past years. A number of people in Saudi Arabia are currently using the electronic bicycles because of its convenience (Sperling, Gordon Schwarzenegger 2009, p. 287). A number of people majorly use the bikes for transport purposes hence Saudi Arabia has been able to improve its economy. Besides, it is preferred by many people because it is environmental friendly (Gilbert Perl 2007, p. 388). Various researches will be carried out to establish the impact of the e-bikes on the local people and the Saudi Arabian government. Additionally, the research will be done to establish the efficiency of the electronic bikes (Vacca, 2009). It will also deter mine how the bikes are environmental friendly (Westby 2004). The other major aim of the research is to investigate the trend of its sale in the local Saudi Arabian market (Kurtz 2013, p. 289). Moreover, the research will try to answer questions like how the use of e-bikes is more advantageous than the traditional bikes. It will also determine the approximate number of people who are able to purchase the bikes and their opinions (Association of College and Research Libraries 1964, 168). The above research will try to explain why electric bicycles have minimum traffic rules compared to other means of transport like vehicles and trains. In addition, the research to be carried out will not only explain the few limitations of using the bicycle but also how it has affected the living standards of Saudi Arabian people (Boxwel Boxwell 2011, p. 169).Advertising Looking for proposal on environmental studies? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Lear n More Methodology There are a number of methods that will be applied when trying to answer the research questions. A lot of survey will be done to validate the efficiency of using the electric bikes (Stowell Welch 2012). Peopleââ¬â¢s opinion will be obtained through the provision of some questionnaires that will contain some elaborate information wanted. Research will also be carried out both in rural and urban areas to establish how the bikes have affected the living standard of the Saudi Arabian citizens (Stewart 2010). To establish the rate at which people are purchasing the bikes, selling records from some of the dealers will be used (Boxwell2010, p. 386). In addition, some government records indicating the number of electric bike users who have broken the traffic rules will be used. Consequently, this will help establish their efficiency in terms of damages. The whole analytical framework will be carried out in two stages. The first stage will be carrying out vario us interviews while the second stage will be the main survey. The main goal of the interviewers will be to find a synopsis of the electric bikes. The other aim will be to obtain some internal information the can be vital in the development of the questionnaires.à Upon the data collection from different sources, a comprehensive analysis should be executed. Critically, two main theses were developed. The first thesis proposed that Saudi Arabians had a positive attitude towards social studies. They were the only group actively involved in their studies. Moreover, teacherââ¬â¢s enthusiasm also led to the positive response. The second thesis proposed that, the presence or lack of the observable practical values was the main contributing factor to the Saudi Arabianââ¬â¢s negative perception of social studies. The analysis of the study should be sufficient since the researchers were able to obtain first hand information from the affected Saudi Arabians. Saudi Arabia should be able to give its experiences concerning social studies. Thus, the information obtained by the researchers was accurate in regard to analysis. Additionally, improved systems of solving environmental problems and administrative practices were believed to have contributed to the positive attitude. Conversely, a number of Saudi Arabians were still having a negative perception on social issues. Most of them based their views on the irrelevancy of the subject. Besides, some Saudi Arabians had taken the social study classes to be dull and boring. Critically, the methodology to be used, data analysis, results, and conclusions should be interrelated. The procedure for data analysis entailed both the earlier and subsequent steps (Research methods groups, 2012). Besides, results will not be obtained without data analysis. It is from these results that the conclusions will be made.Advertising We will write a custom proposal sample on Importance of E-Bikes as an Alternative Commuting System f or Saudi Arabia specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Brief literature review According to Tom Ayres, an individual does not need to go for any driving school to learn how to ride the electric bicycle. Additionally, use of the electric bicycles does not need any license or insurance (Straub 2008). The funds and other operational costs like fuel do not need a lot of money. Moreover, an individual is able to save a lot of money that he could have spent on parking and bridge tolls. Consequently, it becomes more convenient means of transport in Saudi Arabia compared to other means of transport. The other advantage of using e-bikes is that it does not cost a lot of money to obtain hence it can be acquired by poor people. Therefore, most people are able to improve their living standards by living a better life. According to statistics, there are few accidents that are associated with this type of bicycle hence a lot of people prefer using it rather tha n using other means of transport (Singhal 2007). For instance, the number of deaths that had been reported is lower compared to other means of transport. Consequently, the country has realized a lot of revenue from the sale of petrol that is being used by a number of people. The other advantage of using electric bicycles is that it reduces traffic jams in major towns hence the country is able to move forward in terms of development (Kock 2007). As discussed earlier, using electric bikes is more convenient since it can move in rocky areas where vehicles and other means of transport can be used. Additionally, it is considered to be faster as it is not affected by traffic congestion (Rakus-Andersson 2009). Health wise, electric bikes are used by a number of people for physical fitness. Statistics indicate that the rate of obesity in Saudi Arabia is steadily decreasing since people are able to use the e-bicycles for their physical fitness. It also has a high resale value. For instance, it costs a lot to buy compared to other machines that are not original (Wendell Cecil 1973). Another research indicates that Saudi Arabians regard social environmental protection and greener commuting as a vital subject. The Saudi Arabians portrayed social studies as a mystifying subject that is incongruent with their future dreams and academic expectations (Ragsdell 2002). Agreeably, the results obtained were adequate since improved systems of greener commuting were interesting to the Saudi Arabians. Additionally, negative perceptions are experienced because the education system has not adopted an appropriate way of addressing the current issues on environmental issues. Conclusively, the number of Saudi Arabians who had bad attitude towards greener commuting and use of E-Bikes studies was moderate (Werner Desimone 2009). This was contrary to the results of the previous research studies.Advertising Looking for proposal on environmental studies? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The other research concluded that the Saudi Arabianââ¬â¢s attitude towards greener commuting and use of E-Bikes is determined by their commitments. It is important to note that the research will answer questions like how the use of e-bikes is more beneficial than the traditional bikes. It is also important to determine the approximate number of people who are able to purchase the bikes and their opinions (Association of College and Research Libraries 1964, 168). Most researches have tried to explain why electric bicycles have minimum traffic rules compared to other means of transport like vehicles and trains (Khosrowpour, 2000). Concurrently, the research to be carried out will not only explain the few limitations of using the bicycle but also how it has affected the living standards of Saudi Arabian people (Boxwel Boxwell 2011, p. 169). Resources needed One of the resources needed in this study is money. Consequently, a lot of money is required for carrying out the various inte rviews (Pane 2006, p. 61). The other resource needed is the manpower that will be responsible for carrying out the surveys and interviews. Other resources required are office supplies, computers and other devices that can be used in measurement and interviews (Marsden Wright 2010, p. 37). Additionally, it will also depend on the time that the survey is expected to last. For instance, quick surveys will require few resources compared to surveys that are carried out for a longer period of time (Melnick Everitt 2008). Energy is the major focus of most significant economic, environmental and developmental concerns within the modern society. Clean, cheap and dependable energy services are indispensable for the worldwide affluence (Schein 1988). Emerging nations, specifically, should expand their access to reliable and present energy services if they need to lessen poverty and advance the health of their people. Concurrently, they need to upsurge productivity, improve competitiveness an d promote the overall global economic growth (Dougherty Dougherty 2009). The current energy sources are not enough to serve the requirements of underprivileged citizens. Consequently, threatens the realization of the MDGs. For example, if there is an inadequate supply of reliable energy services, institutions such as hospitals and schools can never operate smoothly (Kock 2007). Zimbardo Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Zimbardo - Essay Example Most people believe that they act according to their own values. If a person commits a crime, psychologists study this person in detail trying to identify what personal traits or events in biography forced motivated further criminal activities. Personal dispositions are not the only factor which makes an individual behave in a certain way. It is interesting to what extent social context motivates behavior of the individual. Surprisingly, it can become the major influence under certain circumstances. Dr. Zimbardo entitles this phenomenon of individual transformation Lucifer effect. According to Zimbardo, ââ¬Å"evil is the exercise of power to harm, hurt and destroyâ⬠something or someone. There are certain conditions when dominance becomes the way to cope with a huge stress. For instance, the Abu Ghraib prison tortures happened in totally stressful atmosphere. War motivated hatred between US soldiers and Iraqi prisoners. The prison building was bombarded during the day and all people experienced daily fear to die. They did not leave the prison at all (Zimbardo). As a result, they transformed their stress into dominance over the weak. Zimbardoââ¬â¢s theory does not seek for the ââ¬Å"bad appleâ⬠; it aims at finding a ââ¬Å"bad barrelâ⬠. Any particular situation is a result of the system. If the system has some space for bad things to happen, they will happen. System can be represented by the organization, community group or the whole civilization. It involves a wide range of factors; cultural, legal and social norms restrain behavior of an individual (Zimbardo). In Abu Ghraib, the US military organization to control prisons was a failure. One person was assigned to control 3 prisons but she never showed up there; there was no supervision at all. People who worked in prisons had no day offs. They had 12 hour shifts and worked all day long. Higher rank officers ordered to torture the prisoners creating the situation of diffused responsibility. Functioning in that system

Power hand drill Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3750 words
Power hand drill - Essay Example The grouping or classification of hand drills depends mainly by the maximum size of drill bit shaft that the drill chuck can hold. A power drill comprises mainly of two sub-systems, which are mechanical and electrical. The two sub-systems play specific, different, and important roles in the working of the electrical hand drill. The first subsystem, which is the mechanical, has components, which transfer, translate, and apply forces in the hand drill. The electrical subsystem mainly deals with power. It has components that supply and control power flow in the hand drill. In this paper, we look on how to design an efficient and functioning hand drill. We will have a list of each mechanical component, the materials of the parts and the mechanical properties of this material. After designing the hand drill, we try to look on how to improve it to work more efficiently. Specifications of the hand drill 1. The input power is 800w 2. Its speed is 0-800rpm 3. Has a chuck capacity of 10mm 4. D rill capacity (a) Steel: 13mm (b) Wood: 25mm Mechanical components of the hand drill. Frame Shigley, (2008 Pg. 23) This is the outer part of the hand drill and it covers the inner mechanical and electrical components. One can also refer it to the housing. This component comprises of hard plastic. The mechanical property behind the idea of using the plastic is that it is a poor conductor of heat and electricity. Since the hand drill produces heat as it is in use, the frame does not get to harm or burn the user since its conductivity to heat is very low. Plastic also makes it safe for the user to use, as the risk of electric shock is minimal. This part is to be high smooth hence polishing is very important as it should be comfortable for the user to hand while using it. Plastic also makes the machine to be less heavy and the user can comfortably carry it without straining and in case of any accidents, the user is less likely to be less hurt by the frame as it is of plastic in nature. Two gears assembly Shigley, (2008 Pg. 23) There is transmission between the chuck and the motor. This transmission consists of pears of gears. We use gears from alloy steel elements for example stainless steel. Gears require materials of have a high resistance to corrosion. Steel gears offer high strength and has a wide range of heat treatment properties. Steel gears are also very durable and they provide the highest strength. Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and has good corrosion resistance. These are the mechanical properties of this material. They can also be martensitic stainless steel that is easy to harden with heat, has magnetic properties, and have reasonable resistance to corrosion.
